Of Monsters And Men
King & Lionheart

The concert yesterday was AMAZING! They were the fourth band up and I wish they could have played longer but what they did play was brilliant!

I was thrilled with how good they sounded live and I have a feeling it was their first show that large. They were so humble and cute when they thanked everyone. They even got excited because they got their first crowd surfer.

Even though it was cold and some of the bands made it a long wait it was completely worth it! I cannot wait until they headline their own concert because it will be epic.

Don’t forget their CD, My Head Is An Animal, comes out April 3!

To top it off they’re currently on tour in the USA! And I get to see them this Saturday! I am so psyched!! They’re going to be brilliant!

On Your Way

Many of you have probably heard of MTV’s Musical March Madness. Bands face off via fan votes until they have one winner. If you want to see the brackets there’s a link below. Anyhow, I don’t mean to bash on people’s tastes but according to these voters Evanesence is better than the Alabama Shakes…..

The other brackets are full of other tragic choices as well but that rant could go on for quite some time so I digress. So in honor of simply being chosen, hopefully expanding their fan base and the foolishness of the voters I give you another Alabama Shakes song. Here’s to next year’s MTV Musical March Madness and the dream that people may gain some sense!

Hold On

Another great song. My ideal time for listening to this song is on a drive. Maybe around 5:30 pm when the sun is starting to settle down with the windows down driving through some back roads.

I Found You

New week. New artists. This week’s feature band is Alabama Shakes.

This is a fantastic up and coming band out of Athens, Alabama! They mix rock, soul, country, blues, and roots in a way that reaches out to everyone. You can’t help but feel the energy and soul in their songs each and every time you hear them.

Recently they’ve received some attention from MTV and have been nominated for an MTV 2012 Woodie Award (Best Live Act). You can vote for them at http://www.mtv.com/ontv/woodieawards/2012/performing-woodie/. Alabama Shakes were also a musical guest on The Conan O’Brien Show last week. You can watch their performance at teamcoco.com/alabamashakes.

Their international debut album ‘Boys & Girls’ is set to come out April 10th in the USA. They can also be found touring starting February 22 in London for stint and then back to the USA March 9 starting in Chicago. Check out their facebook page for more dates, though they may be a bit sparse for now, unfortunately Ohio isn’t currently on the list…but I digress.

You can also check out their facebook page for a biography, pictures, news, and all that good stuff. They also have a website where you can pre-order their album, which is going to available on iTunes as well.

Man Burning

Josh Ritter Week Thursday Edition.

Today’s song is ‘Man Burning’. I like to listen to this song on a warm summer day, driving around with the windows down, maybe on a road trip when it’s almost dusk. Good Times.

You Don't Make It Easy Babe

Today’s song is ‘You Don’t Make It Easy Babe’. Another example of Josh Ritter’s superior songwriting skills, in my not so humble opinion. Also, a nice message to pull us through the week. How often do we make things harder on ourselves or others knowingly just because we’re stubborn or being silly?

So relax everyone. It’s all good. Josh Ritter is here to sing to you.

The Bad Actress

Happy Tuesday! Alright, there’s nothing particularly happy about Tuesday. That being said, here’s some Josh Ritter to brighten your day! Who could say no to that?

Also, here’s a link to an interview with Josh Ritter from almost a year ago. Here he talks about a bit of his creative process over some dim sum:  http://www.aux.tv/videos/dim-sum-with-josh-ritter-aux-weekly/

Bright Smile

Josh Ritter Week marches onto Monday with ‘Bright Smile’. This song, like many of his others, is amazingly sweet and calm.

“Just pin your heartbeat up against my heartbeat, and you’ll see how well we rhyme”

Fun Josh Ritter Fact: He began writing his own music as a teenager using a lute his father made.

Kathleen

This is probably one of the sweetest songs of all time. Josh Ritter has captured, in this song, a glimpse of a truly innocent and pure love.

‘All the other girls here are stars, you are the Northern Lights

They try to shine in through you curtain, you are too close and too bright…’

I mean try not to melt!
